Micronizing – Air Classification – Air Filtration – Powder Handling

Whenever fine and ultra-fine powders are produced, handled or required, processing technology from PALLMANN leads the way and sets standards with economical solutions.  It is our philosophy to provide environmentally friendly systems.  Therefore, careful consideration must be given when selecting the appropriate equipment for a given application.  Clean exhaust air, energy saving processes as well as ease of handling and maintenance friendly equipment are part of every system that we supply.

Micronizing

Air Classifier Mill, type MS 1500 AC

This mill is one of the most flexible machines in the industry.  It is suitable to pulverize and micronize a large variety of soft to medium hard materials.  Different grinding elements and air classifier wheels are available.  By properly setting the parameters, mainly rotor speeds and air volume, the performance of this machine is unmatched.

Air Classifier Mill, type MS 100 AI

Grinding of most chemical and food products today requires machines and systems made of Stainless Steel.  According to the requirements of the applications, stainless steel 306 or 316 are used.  Surface treatment reaches from blasted to polished design.  Pressure shock resistant designs are available in PSR 3 and PSR 10.

Pharmaceutical applications require designs with ease of handling, easy cleaning and highly polished surfaces manufactured according to GMP and FDA regulations.  We’ll gladly show you the details and our capabilities in this specific field.

Air Classifier, type AC

This dynamic air classifier is suitable for cuts between 8 μm and 150 μm depending on the characteristics of the product to be processed.  Capacities achieved range from 100 kg/hr to 12,000 kg/hr.

A secondary air inlet placed between the upper and the lower parts of the classifier is characteristic for this air classifier.

Clean coarse products can be produced. Top cuts range from 5 μm to 120 μm.  Air capacities range from 200 m3/hr to 18,000 m3/hr.

Depending on the application on hand, Turbo-Classifiers are available in stainless steel and pressure shock resistant design PSR3 or PSR10.

Design and material construction of the classifier wheels are selected according to the application.

Classifier wheels can be made of carbon steel, stainless steel or ceramic.  Coating with Wolfram carbide or Linotex rubber is available.

Automatic Reverse Jet Filters, type RJF

For cleaning process gas from product particles, automatic reverse jet filters are employed in most cases.  The design of the process filter is adapted to the requirements of the application.

An  almost constant and low deferential pressure through the filter bags is ensured by sizing the filter correctly and by means of an automatic cleaning system which cleans only a fraction of the total filter area at the same time.  Filter bags made from polyester needle felt are standard.

However, Teflon coating, meal filter cartridges or sintered lamella filter elements might be required to achieve the purity of the exhaust gas required.  A purity of the exhaust gas of 20 mg/m3 is standard, 1 mg/m3 can be achieved.

Powder Handling

High Speed Mixer

Fast mixing times and extreme homogeneous products can be achieved with high speed mixers.  They are ideal for applications where watery liquids, oily substances or even melted fats need to be mixed into the product.

 

Bulk Material Handling

Whatever the needs are, we will pick the mist suitable equipment to handle the job.  The experience from former installations help us avoid problems that can be foreseen.  Ask our experts to assist you in your application.

Industrial Fans

In cases where process air with specified parameters is required (constant air volume,  stable pressure drop curve, constant air temperature, etc.) our engineers will select the most suitable industrial fan.  Frequency controlled motors, sound insulation, hand and/or remote controlled  air regulating valves will be chosen as required.

Hot Air Furnace

For grinding and drying systems hot air is required.  Gas or oil fired systems can be provided as part of such installations.

Product Silos

Product silos for bulk materials like granules or powders can be delivered in carbon steel, galvanized steel, stainless steel or glass fiber.  Material of construction, size and dimensions of the silo will be recommended by our engineers according to your application.

Packaging

For high volume commodity products, packaging in Super Bags is common.  We provide semi automatic filling systems for super Bags as an integrated part of our processing systems.  Where required, finished products might be discharged into mobile silo trucks or packaged into 25 kg valve bags.
