Method of Operation
In the
gelatin industry pork rinds and split cowhide
must be size reduced in order to feed them into
alkaline or acid treatments. For both processes
the material must be size reduced into palm
sized pieces with a minimum of fines. The pieces
should not be too big and smoothly cut so that
the chemicals can easily penetrate the skins
through the cut edges. The ORIGINAL PALLMANN
Knife Mill, type PS-I has been successful
worldwide, in the leading gelatin factories, due
to its outstanding cutting ability and product
quality.
A gripper transports
the feed material into the storage bin. From
there the material is evenly dosed either via
screws or conveyor belts onto a second belt
conveyor and then into the mill. A metal
detector is integrated into the belt conveyor in
order to protect the mill; metal pieces and
other foreign objects can be removed by hand.
Product discharge
out of the knife mill is straight down into a
discharge chute and is then transported via
pumps or screws to further processing. |
